Importing patients from a CSV file

1 min read · Updated 29 September 2026

Patients → Import CSV brings in demographics only: name, date of birth, clinic reference and preferred language. Notes are not imported.

  1. Choose a .csv file with a header row (up to 5,000 rows).
  2. Check the column mapping and the preview. Rows without a readable date of birth are skipped; use your country's date format or YYYY-MM-DD.
  3. Choose what happens when a clinic reference already exists: skip the row, or update the name, date of birth and language on the existing record.
  4. Import. Every new record is tagged with the import, and Revert under the list removes the records that import created. Visits are never deleted by a revert.
