The Chronix Scribe extension for Chrome and Edge lets you dictate straight into the field you are working in (a web EHR's note box, a letter, a form) and insert your signed notes there.
If the extension shows only Insert a signed note, ask support@chronixhealthgroup.com for the latest version.
Install
Until the extension is listed in the browser's extension store, ask support@chronixhealthgroup.com for the install package.
Open the extension from the browser toolbar. If you are already signed in to Chronix Scribe in the same browser, it uses that session; otherwise sign in with your Chronix Scribe email and password.
Dictate into a field
- Click into the field you want to dictate into.
- Open the extension and choose Dictate.
- Check the line You'll dictate into <site> — <field> and pick your language.
- The first time only, choose allow the microphone. A tab opens so the browser can ask you.
- Choose Start dictating, read the confirmation, and choose Confirm.
- Speak. Your words are typed into the field as you go. In English, say "full stop", "comma", "new line" or "new paragraph" for punctuation; in other languages, dictate the words only.
- Choose Stop, or press Alt+Shift+D (the same keys start dictation).
You can close the popup while you dictate; the toolbar icon shows REC until you stop.
What happens to your voice
Audio streams in memory to the speech service in Europe and is never stored. The words are typed into the field as if you had typed them; nothing is saved in that system until you save it.
If something goes wrong
- The browser blocked the microphone: allow the microphone for the extension in the browser's site settings and try again.
- Could not reach Chronix Scribe: check you are signed in, then try again.
- Dictation stopped: the words already typed stay in the field; start again to continue.
- The field is no longer available: click into it again.
